Renewable Energy Fair at GreEnergy Park, Beverly, MA June 17

This year?s fair marks the 25th anniversary of the photovoltaic site in Beverly, and is a tribute to the late Dr. John W. Coleman, an MIT Physicist, who was instrumental in securing the photovoltaic array in Beverly to promote renewable energy education and was dedicated to Solar Now.
The fair will feature education about renewable energy as an alternative to costly fossil fuels. Attendees will learn how to make the best use of renewable energy in their homes. An assortment of vendors and distributors are scheduled to be on hand to talk about solar electric, solar heating, wind turbines, biodiesel, hybrid and flex fuel vehicles, installation information, energy credit information, and local project information. Product demonstrations will also be given.
During the fair, visitors can tour GREENERGY PARK, including the 100-kilowatt photovoltaic array, 10-kilowatt wind turbine and Inverter House. There will be children's activities as well, including solar toys, wind wigglers, pinwheels, a solar tug of war, solar chariots, a play area and a Wizard Magic Show.
Live music will play all day via a solar-powered concert featuring:
Civil Disturbance -- Dixieland Jazz
Fortuitous Accident -- Jazz Jam
Mamadou -- World Music, Reggae, Rock
Drivin' Blind -- Blues, Blues Rock
Plaiddaddy -- Rock and Pop
Food and drink concessions will be open at the park. Visitors are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs.
$5 for adults <strong>(Free for MA teachers who contact Shawn at EnergyTeachers.org)</strong>, Children under 12 are free. Proceeds benefit GREENERGY PARK. GREENERGY PARK is adjacent to Beverly High School, on the corner of Sohier Road and Tozer Road. Take Exit 19 off Route128 and follow Sohier Road (and signs for Beverly High School) for almost a mile. Turn right on Tozer Road. Free parking is available at 55 Tozer Road. The main gate at Tozer Road opens at noon. Rain date is Sunday, June 18th.
