Central NY district offers summer building sci course for HS students

Students from any school in the Tompkins-Seneca-Tioga BOCES school districts in Central New York State can take a summer course for preparation in building science, the field of improving building energy efficiency. The course is offered July 25-29, and the deadline for application is currently Jun 30, 2011.

FREE Building Science Certification Course, July 25-29
National Building Performance Institute (BPI) Certification course as a “Building Analyst” for students in area schools.
TST BOCES, 555 Warren Road, Ithaca, 12 spaces available.
Instructor: Patrick Griffin, owner of Phi Global & Certified BPI trainer
Course basics: The Building Performance Institute (BPI) Building Analyst course will teach you the basic principles of physics and building science necessary to assess energy efficiency in a home, while monitoring conditions that have a direct impact on health and safety. BPI standards emphasize the 'house-as-a-system' method to inspecting a home. You will learn how to use diagnostic equipment like the blower door, infrared imaging and the combustion analyzer. This course is a balance of classroom presentations, field exercises, and self-study materials. Certification test included = jobs!
