The Green Design Lab Energy Challenge, sponsored by the New York City Department of Education Office of Sustainability and DCAS Energy Management is an annual opportunity for NYC public schools to take action and save energy. During the three month challenge – December through February– the whole school community works together to save electricity and reduce the school’s greenhouse gas footprint. During the challenge, Solar One works with Con Edison to collect monthly electrical meter readings. Solar One compares these monthly readings to each school's historical usage for the same month from the previous years. Solar One will send monthly updates allowing schools to see the results of their actions along the way. At the end of the challenge, the ten schools with the largest percent reduction of electricity will each receive a $5000 cash prize! To compete, fill out the form here!
