The thought process and work involved in creating a model home carries on afterward. My son envisioned a place he would like to live on a hill - a home consisting of 3 towers and an Asian-Medieval-contemporary fusion with sustainable features and matched with a new, simpler lifestyle more in tune with the seasons. One concern in the rock built, castle like structure was light, and windows on the North side were one way to offer light to the towers. But also, a week later, while we were thinking about new paint or wallpaper for his bedroom, he realized the importance of the affect of the interior coating on light and noted how the reflective properties, especially the choice of colors of the paint or wallpaper could be very important for how much electricity was used for lighting...and maybe heating, too.
