My 9-year-old son Carrick and I just finished the pilot video for our cross-country eco-video series for kids. Titled "Wind Over Worcester", it profiles the new wind turbine that powers and heats Holy Name High School in Worcester, Mass. This pilot video provides a good example of what our cross-country eco-video series is going to look like once we finish our journey this June. You can see our video on our website at http://www.OurRenewableNation.org

Enjoy!

In the video, when Mary Riordan said her "turbine would produce over a million kilowatts of electricity every year" she must have meant kilowatt-hours; she makes the same mistake in the accounting of the usage. I'm compiling a list of this exact same confusion made over and over in news articles. It's easy to forgive school president Riordan for the mistake, but it's sad to see the same mistake made in edited articles in major national newspapers.
The tone of the interview, and the quality of video-editing is excellent. Credits were given properly, except for the pictures of cats, which were taken from the web. Fair use laws allow for such use, but some credit should be given. For the sake of authenticity, in this day of easy electronic communication, why not ask President Riordan for a photo of her cat? The cat on the nice textile was from wikimedia.

The close-up face was "Jim-n-Linda's Russian Blue devil-cat, Church" from Jim Coleman's blog.

Too bad they didn't include the most famous russian blue today, the lolcat who started I CAN HAZ CHEEZBURGER?

Thanks for pointing out the ways we could improve our video. We made several minor edits to the video and reposted it on our Youtube page, http://www.youtube.com/carrickgareth
