Solar barbecues everywhere

Post by shawn » Sun Mar 01, 2009 1:10 pm

EnergyTeachers.org is planning solar barbecues for National Environmental Education Week and Earth Week, April 12-25, 2009. Educators, and anyone interested in solar cooking, are invited to hold gatherings at public parks everywhere, displaying all forms of solar cookers.
If you plan to have an event in your community, please post details in reply to this message.

Notes on April 2009 Solar Barbecues

Post by shawn » Thu Apr 23, 2009 10:20 am

  • Let's call them picnics, not barbecues. People think of singeing meat, which is not likely at most of these.
It's OK to have them during a break like they were this spring break, but make sure the postcards get to teachers before break. oops.
Have pictures of solar picnics on the page and the postcard, helping create an image the event.
Resist formalizing the event with invited speakers, agenda, etc. But realize that this will mean that some people won't come, with no "draw."
