NRES 730 - Energy Education in the Classroom
Energize your classroom! Through hands-on activities and class discussions learn how you can enhance students' understanding of what energy is, where it comes from, and how it affects their lives. You will also receive a copy of the KEEP Activity Guide, a comprehensive, easy-to-use guide, and be introduced to additional energy-related educational materials. This course is designed for teachers who want to experience it today and teach it tomorrow. Applicable to teachers of Science/Mathematics, Social Studies, Language Arts, Technology Education, Family Living and Consumer Education (FCE), or to anyone who wants to promote energy as part of their environmental education curriculum.
Select Wisconsin utilities provide $350-$400 scholarships, and participants pay a co-pay. The In-service includes one graduate credit from UWSP (and all materials) to participants who are practicing K-12 teachers from Wisconsin schools in their territories.
Participants are responsible for paying the co-pay, attending the course, peer teaching from the KEEP Activity Guide during the course, and completing a class assignment to be turned in by an arranged date after the course. The assignment is designed to have teachers create a product that will support their efforts to integrate energy concepts into their classroom lessons.
