Environmental Science
Grades 7, 8, 9
Explore the issues surrounding environmental science. Investigate renewable versus non-renewable resources, recycling and the "three R's" (reduce, reuse, recycle) and the greenhouse effect. Assess the impact of human behavior on the environment, design and create a solar powered car and study habitat conservation. Use your imagination and creativity to find solutions to environmental problems. Build a solar cooker, a water purifier, and/or a composter. Watch how worms can turn garbage into "gold". Collect weather data and consider the problem of global warming. Create recycled materials and do you part to save the planet! This class is based on the Museum's Engineering if Elementary curriculum.

In this course, you'll learn all about electricity, circuits, conductors, and how you can create your very own electric alarm to remind you to do a chore or keep someone out of your room!
