The Youth Energy and Environmental Expo (YEEE) is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 24, 2009 from 10 am–12 noon at the Miller Campus Center on the SUNY Canton college campus and precedes the North Country Sustainable Energy Fair which will be held April 25th and 26th also on the SUNY Canton campus. YEEE is a science fair for students in grades 4-12. YEEE is the culminating activity for schools involved in Project Green Teams activities but any area school can participate.
Students are invited to submit energy related projects in three categories: SCIENCE, ANAYLSIS, and ENGINEERING/DESIGN. Projects of the YEEE winners will be displayed on Saturday and Sunday at the 2009 Energy Fair. Suggested topics for projects include renewable energy, energy conservation and efficiency, green buildings, community education, and environmental impacts. Entries can include: models, demonstrations, posters, scrapbooks, photo displays, or representational or performance art.
Displays should fit within a 4 ft. x 2.5 ft area (table top or floor). Students must be at the Science Fair to present their project to the judges.
This year YEEE attendees will be treated to a special performance of Quiet Riot. This team of brothers uses comedy, storytelling, music, and sound effects to create expressive and meaningful programs for all ages. Participation in the Energy Science Fair will give your students an opportunity to see this special performance!
Help your students work toward solutions that will help our Earth! Plan on participating. Group and individual entries are accepted. Some travel grants may be available for field trip expenses. YEEE is jointly coordinated by Clarkson University Office of Educational Partnerships and Community Energy Services.
