Here Comes The Sun with School Power...Naturally(SM)
Free workshop for teachers to teach students everything they wanted to know about solar electricity.
On Saturday, June 11, the North Country Sustainable Energy Fair will host a free workshop for teachers in grades 5 - 12 from 1 - 4 pm.
With solar panels in hand, on-line solar electric system data at your fingertips and lesson plans that address NY education standards, teachers will discover fun, informative and inquiry-based science and technology education through solar energy. This workshop will showcase the new School Power Naturally curriculum. A special feature will be a demo of live data from the photovoltaic (PV) systems installed at Canton High School and other schools. Teachers will experiment with mini solar panels to learn how solar panels are constructed, how they produce electricity and how they can be used for in-classroom learning.
Tom Van de Water, Science teacher and Solar Coordinator at Canton High School and Chris Mason, Education Director at the Northeast Sustainable Energy Center, will lead this informative workshop. Teachers will get lots of practical ideas to use in their classrooms, along with a certificate of attendance at the workshop.

Registration deadline is June 3.
