Sustainability is a concept that integrates environmental concerns, the
economy, and human health. Potential and kinetic energy, vectors,
velocity, gravity, contour mapping and topography, and the water cycle
will be explored in this institute. Through first-hand investigations of
Lowell National Historical Park, university and museum instructors will
deliver science content, model guided inquiry teaching, and assist
teachers in developing projects that apply institute resources and
knowledge to classroom instruction. Although the institute will
emphasize science and technology content, it will also address geography
and history standards by focusing on the effects of the
industrialization and technology on the environment and human condition.

7.5 days. Graduate credit available from UMass Lowell
