Fitchburg Offers Renewable Content Institute in June

Courses will take place in June 2005 with follow-up in the fall.
[From that page:]"This Content Institute for teachers will provide an update on current energy use, problems involving resource depletion, and environmental issues associated with current practice. Alternatives to fossil fuels will be studied with the emphasis on renewable resources. Participants will get hands-on experience with solar and wind systems. Stressing the interaction between science, society and technology, this institute will emphasize the interdisciplinary nature of energy studies. Participants will design, construct and test both a solar oven and a wind turbine during this institute. Field trips to Evergreen Solar in Marlborough , MA and to the power plant at Mount Wachusett will be included."
There is no charge, a $200 stipend, (This institute is funded by the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, Renewable Energy Trust and the MA Department of Education),  67.5 PDPs will be awarded to each teacher who participates fully in the institute. And, participants who wish to take this institute for graduate credit may do so for a cost of $225 for three (3) graduate credits.
