Ithaca, NY

Come join the Xraise outreach program for an Aero/Wind Expo at the Physical Sciences Building on Cornell's campus this Thursday, March 28 from 5:30-7:00pm. 245 East Avenue, Ithaca, NY 14853.

Do you like to tinker? Do you enjoy designing and building gadgets? Are you interested in helping to solve problems, such as finding ways to generate renewable energy?

Community members are invited to design a wind turbine using inexpensive materials. Learn how wind energy can be converted into electrical energy.

Student groups, including the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Juice to Juice (the alternative energy group), will be showing off their own aeronautic exhibits; a quad-copter, a 19 foot glider, and several remote control airplanes, to name a few.

The Ithaca High School Technology Students of America will also be participating with a wind tunnel, wind tornado and wind cannon exhibits to showcase.

There will also be things for kids and families to make and take, like wind turbines, paper airplanes and walk-along gliders. Munchies will be available.

From 5:30 to 6:15, enjoy exhibits and interactive demos.

From 6:15-7pm in Room 120, Marguerite Wells from Black Oak Wind Farm will give a talk about wind power development efforts in nearby Enfield and some of the science behind wind energy.
