K-12 schools are invited to learn about the U.S. Department of Education's (US-ED) Green Ribbon Schools program at the second annual Massachusetts Green Ribbon Schools Award Conference on Sept. 27, 2013 at Mt. Wachusett Community College in Gardner.
At this no-cost half-day conference, teachers, students, administrators, and volunteers will hear about application procedures and related resources, and meet 2013 Green Ribbon awardees who will provide technical assistance and mentoring. DOER Commissioner Mark Sylvia will deliver opening remarks. The Green Ribbon Schools program honors schools and districts that are exemplary in reducing environmental impact and costs, improving the health and wellness of students and staff, and delivering effective environmental and sustainability education that incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), civic skills, and green career pathways.
