2023 National KidWind Challenge announced for May 15, Boulder Colorado

KidWind is very excited to announce that the 2023 National KidWind Challenge will be held at the Boulder campus of University of Colorado during the week of May 15th. This event will be co-located with the 2023 DOE Collegiate Wind Competition.



This year's culminating KidWind Challenge will bring together top performing Wind and Solar Challenge teams from across the nation to compete alongside each other at the National KidWind Challenge.



Participants must be invited to this event by their local event coordinator or through KidWind's central office in order to participate.



The National KidWind Challenge will have two events: a Solar Challenge and Wind Challenge. The National KidWind Wind Turbine Challenge will have three grade-level divisions this year: (1) 4-5th Grade Division; (2) 6-8th Grade Division; (3) 9-12th Grade Division. The National KidWind Solar Device Challenge will have two grade-level divisions: (1) 4-8th Grade Division and (2) 9-12th Grade Division.



This year's in-person National KidWind Challenge will be co-located with the Collegiate Wind Competition and include multiple opportunities to meet with and learn from the members of the Collegiate Wind teams.



Additional Nationals details including an updated Rulebook, lodging information and more detailed schedules can be found on KidWind's Nationals website (launching in February of 2023).



While they are still confirming the official dates, the tentative schedule is:



Sunday, May 14th: Team Arrivals (Check-in begins at 12pm) + Open Tunnel testing (2-5pm)



Monday, May 15th: 9am Kick-Off and then full day competition



Tuesday, May 16th: Full day competition and evening team party



Wednesday, May 17th: 11-12pm Awards then team departures
