Northeast JSS workshop general announcement

FREE MODEL SOLAR CAR WORKSHOP FOR GRADES 5 to 8 EDUCATORS
Teachers, community educators, and youth leaders: Take one of the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association's (NESEA) FREE model solar car leader workshops.
Find the date and location that works best for you and come learn about solar energy and the Junior Solar Sprint Program.
This project is appropriate for students in grades 5-8 and is a great opportunity for a class, after school, home school, or youth group. At the workshop, you learn how to lead your students through this highly motivating, unique learning experience. Your young engineers will deepen their understanding about solar energy, math, physical science, and craftsmanship.
Teams can enter their cars in local design and race competitions with top winners invited to an annual Northeast championship. A letter of attendance for your professional development is also provided, and some workshops offer door prizes for attendees.

Junior Solar Sprint

Connections Room is on the second Floor with elevator access.
Junior Solar Sprint is a competition for students up to grade 8, where teams of students build solar-powered cars that can fit inside a large shoebox. Students learn about mechanics, engineering processes, and photovoltaic power. Awards are given for craftmanship, technical merit, innovation, and the ability to speed down a 20 meter track on a guidewire.
