Possibility of free datalogger
Workshop participant John Kelly wrote me a note about a company that awards a free datalogger to teachers who submit a winning application:
http://www.dataq.com/science-fair/sciencefair.php
"Not all applicants get one after reading the smaller print... The projects need to be vetted and a photo provided," writes John. The logger is apparently a versatile attachment to a serial port on your computer, allowing your computer to record multiple channels of information provided by transducers you supply. The logger comes with software.

Vernier recommendation from a math teacher
I just got a note from a Mr. A who teaches math in California:

This teacher keeps a web site with some interesting notes:Vernier's new data logger is exceptional. It dispenses with the need of a calculator (which I appreciated, but is actually a problem). The Vernier radiation detector worked well for me.
